2016 Programme Updates

Information about changes to the Festival programme, including new events and updates.

Due to unforeseen circumstances we ocasionally have to make small changes to the programme or sadly cancel events. Details of any such changes to the 2016 programme will be listed here.

New Event: Event 239 Carol Ann Duffy on Saturday 1 October, 4.30pm, Kings Hall, Ilkley, £12/10. Click here for more information.

New Event: Event 240 Louis De Bernières Masterclass on Saturday 8 October, 11am – 1pm, Rombalds Hotel, All Levels, £15/10. Click here for more information.

Event Update: Event 27 and Event 209. The results of the Walter Swan Trust Poetry Prize will now be presentated at Event 209, Poetry Reading by Daljit Nagra and Andrew McMillan. (Not Event 27, James Brining: The Walter Swan Memorial Lecture as previously listed).

Venue Change: Event 99 OCA Flash Fiction Workshop with Vicky MacKenzie will now take place at Manor House Museum (not Rombalds Hotel as previously listed).

Time, Date and Venue Change: Event 52 Don’t Panic! Isis Terror and the Making of the New Middle East: Gwynne Dyer will now take place at 3pm on Sunday 16 October at the Clarke Foley Centre (not 6pm on Sunday 2 October at Ilkley Playhouse as previously listed). If you have already purchased tickets for this event but cannot make the new time, please contact the Box Office team on 01943 816 714 to arrange a refund or exchange.

Event Update: Event 41 Grumbling At Large: Celebrating JB Priestley with Barry Cryer, Margaret Drabble, Tom Priestley and Valerie Grove will now include actor Kenneth Cranham.

Event Update: Event 71 The Donald Baverstock Lecture will be debating: Is Yorkshire’s Media Doing Its Job? James Mitchinson, Editor Yorkshire Post Margaret Emsley, Head of News ITV Yorkshire Helen Thomas, Head of Region BBC Yorkshire Andrew Sheldon, Creative Director and Founder “True North” (independent production company)John Fairley, former Head of Programmes at Yorkshire Television. The event will be chaired by Austin Mitchell, MP for Grimsby 1977 to 2015.

Cancelled Event: Due to unforeseen circumstances, Event 59 Mind Your Head: Juno Dawson and Andrew McMillan has been cancelled. The Box Office team will contact ticket holders to arrange refunds.

Event Update: Due to an exciting commitment elsewhere, Mark Pajak can no longer attend Event 193 The Laureate’s Choice. Mark with read a couple of poems via video and Stuart Pickford, who was picked by Carol Ann Duffy as winner of the Poetry Business’ 2014 Yorkshire Award.

Event Update: forward prize judge Malika Booker will be speaking at Event 153. SI leeds Literary Prize Awards Ceremony.

Event Update: Due to unforeseen circumstances Event 83. Damon Hill: Watching the Wheels will now take place on Monday 17 October at 7.30pm at the Kings Hall (not Thursday 6 October as previously listed). The Box Office will contact ticket holders with more information.

Cancelled Event: Due to a family bereavement event 73. FRINGE What We Leave Behind has been cancelled. We apologise for any disappointment.
