Popular young people's author, Catherine McPhail will be talking about Nemesis Boys, her heart stopping crime thriller series on Thursday 16th October at 2pm at Ilkley Grammar School. This event is for Y7,8.9.10 and 11.

Award-winning author Beverley Naidoo (Journey to Jo’burg) and acclaimed director and dramatist Olusola Oyeleye interweave prose, poetry, drama, images and music in a special Festival event for Secondary School students • Imagining Change brings Naidoo’s writing to life, linking her famous books about the UK and South
Africa with contemporary events. • This is a very exciting, not-to-be-missed event, by an internationally known author • Schools are invited to bring parties of students at £3 per student, , free staff ticket for every 10 pupils.
Cool Voices Club Night Friday 17th October
Otley Courthouse Arts Centre, Otley
Young people are invited to apply to take part in this exciting ‘words’ club night on where they can perform their own performance poetry, rap, songs, read fiction they have written, perform their own sketches or stand-up.
• Applications to the Festival for a slot to perform by Tuesday 14th October at the latest please.

• The competition closes on Mon Sept 29th and work from the Summer term may also be submitted. Festival Mushaira Sunday 5th October

Young people (12 plus) writing ghazals in any language: urdu, bengali, hindi, english etc are invited to join us and read at the multi- lingual Festival Mushaira . • Non readers and teachers are most welcome to come and listen to this free event where translations
are given of these lyrical poems whose subjects range from love to Star Wars • The ghazal form began thbousands of years ago in Persia and the reading is lively and interactive
