After another successful Summer School last year, Ilkley Literature Festival will be running our next residential Summer School for young people (aged 12+) who love writing at the end of this year’s Summer Holiday and we hope very much that you would like to come!
Wednesday 29 morning to Friday 31 August midday 2018.
Lineham sleeps 28 young people, with four young people to a room. We will have DBS checked staff to look after the young people alongside the writing tutors We are going to have a lot of fun BUT if anyone would like to take part but doesn’t want to stay over then they can come as a day visitor.
What we will be doing
This is an outline of the sort of thing we are planning:
Wed afternoon: arrive 2.30pm onwards, followed by fun writing games and getting to know you activities
Wed evening: writing workshop with a guest tutor
Wed late: campfire activities
Thu morning: writing workshop and outdoor surprises
Thu afternoon: workshop with a guest tutor and then preparing for evening
Thu evening: we’ll be staging our own cabaret
Fri morning: breakfast and packing, 11am leave for home
£40 including all meals, workshops and accommodation. (£15 per day for day visitors)
£25 each for two (or more) young people from one family
£20 concessionary rate for any young person where parents/carers are in receipt of means tested benefits eg. Family Credit.
A full bursary to cover all costs is available for any young person who would not otherwise be able to attend.

Please note, residential places for girls are now fully booked, places are still available for boys.
Places will be allocated on a first come, first served, basis and we will be sending detailed info and standard forms about medical needs etc out to everyone who books.
