How to get involved:

We’re extending our Fringe and planning a digital ‘get together’ for the whole month of December – and we’re inviting you to bring something to the party.

Now, every decent party has a buffet and that’s where you come in. We want sumptuous performances and creative offerings to tempt and delight – photography, paintings, textiles, craft, spoken word, music, rap, monologues, sketches, you name it…

You could bring along something light or something more substantial; something traditional or something with some unusual ingredients or a surprise twist – with a sprinkling of seasonal spice or a pinch of festive flavouring.

Let’s make it a really good spread – you know how it is with buffets. Too many tubs of humous and batches of sausage rolls and it gets a little indigestible.

What will you bring to share?

The Festive Fringe runs throughout December 2020 and will take place across our ILF Fringe Social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram & Twitter) with a dedicated page linked to the Ilkley Literature Festival website.

To submit your Festive Fringe ‘buffet’ offering you must be based in or have a strong connection to Yorkshire.  Please email fringe@ilkleylitfest.org.uk and include a short bio about yourself and your work (up to 50 words). We’ll let you know within a few days if it’s going to make it to the table.

Guidance:

  • Please make a short film of yourself reading or performing your work, or send us an image of your visual work (eg painting, textiles, crafts)
  • Films can be anything from 10 seconds up to a maximum of 5 mins
  • If you are unfamiliar with filming, here are some tips for creating good quality filmed content and here is how to make a video on your smartphone.
  • Please let us have links to any social media channels or websites you use for your creative work

[If you are under the age of 16 and would like to get involved in the 2020 Digital Fringe Showcase, please arrange for a parent/carer to get in touch about your submission.]

Some testimonials from previous Fringe performers:

“Being associated with the fringe has opened other doors for me publicity wise in the lead up to the event and since, so thank you again for inviting me to take part and good luck with any other upcoming projects.”

Sarah Davis, author of Baby Daze

“Just wanted to say on behalf of Night School Poets, thank you for a great experience and an interesting weekend of writing, poetry and creativity. I personally had a great time and I know the others did. From the planning to the execution and my own attendance at a couple of events, the whole thing was great… It was a fantastic and very stress free experience, thank you.”
