Ann Cleeves: The Darkest Evening

FREE ONLINECaptioned Event

Ann Cleeves is the author of over thirty critically acclaimed novels. Amongst her creations is the redoubtable north-eastern detective Vera Stanhope, whose instant rapport with readers led to the hit television adaptation, Vera, starring Brenda Blethyn. Cleeves will be discussing her latest novel, The Darkest Evening, the ninth to feature the brilliant, determinedly unglamorous investigator.

Before turning to writing, Cleeves worked as a probation officer, giving her first-hand experience of the realities of the criminal justice system and an understanding of the psychology of perpetrators of crime that flavours her work.

Interview by crime writer Brian McGilloway.
