17. Alexander Ballinger: Phyllis Dalton – A Career in Costume

Illustrated with images from Phyllis Dalton's own extraordinary archive, Alexander Ballinger’s event celebrates the glittering career of the Oscar-winning film costume designer. Expect to be entertained by behind-the-scenes insights from cinematic classics including Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, Oliver!, The Water Babies and A Private Function and discover Dalton’s local connections with David and Pat Wildman and the Ilkley Playhouse. 

A screening of the Ilkley-set A Private Function (1984) will take place at Ilkley Cinema on Sunday 4 October, click here for details.
This event will be chaired by Yvette Huddleston

Yvette is a freelance journalist specialising in the arts contributing to a wide range of national and regional publications writing extensively on film, theatre, literature and visual art. She is arts correspondent for the Yorkshire Post, chairs events and debates for a number of literature and arts festivals around the North, is a regular contributor to BBC Radio Leeds and has been a guest critic on BBC Radio 4 arts programme Front Row.
