113. A Private Function Screening with Post-Show Costume Design Q&A

Due to popular demand, Ilkley Cinema is showing a second screening of A Private Function. Book Directly with the Ilkley Cinema from Wednesday 26th August at 5pm. 

A chance to enjoy Alan Bennett’s beautiful 1984 comedy filmed in Ilkley: A Private Function, starring Michael Palin and Maggie Smith as the married couple who, whilst rationing continues following WWII, start to dabble in the murky bacon black market! 

The screening will be followed by a 30-minute post-show talk and Q&A with film historian Alexander Ballinger on costume designer Phyllis Dalton’s work on the film.

This event will be chaired by Colin Philpott

Colin is a Yorkshire-based author of three non-fiction books and a novel. Formerly, he was Director of the Bradford-based National Science and Media Museum, he worked for the BBC for 25 years firstly as a reporter, presenter and interviewer then later in senior editorial and managerial roles, including as Head of BBC Yorkshire.
