93. Reeta Chakrabarti & Oyinkan Braithwaite: Family Curses

Reeta Chakrabarti and Oyinkan Braithwaite join us to discuss their new novels in which family curses of one kind or another have catastrophic effects on successive generations. Journalist and broadcaster Reeta Chakrabarti’s first novel, Finding Belle, is a powerful story of betrayal, madness and a daughter who must forge her own identity. In Nigerian-British writer Oyinkan Braithwaite’s latest book, Cursed Daughters, calm, rational Eniiyi must confront some strange insistent familial beliefs. Her debut novel My Sister, The Serial Killer was shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction and longlisted for the Booker.
