81. Corinne Fowler: Roam and Reclaim

There is a depth of feeling about rural places, the moors and lochs, valleys and mountains, cottages and country houses. Yet the British countryside, so integral to our national identity, is rarely seen as having anything to do with British colonialism.
Professor of of Colonialism and Heritage Corinne Fowler walks us through the hidden stories our rural spaces tell us about our history in this enlightening event. Interviewed by award-winning BBC Radio Leeds broadcaster Nick Ahad, Fowler will explore how the history of both the countryside and of Empire, usually considered separately, and interwoven and continue to shape lives across Britain today.
Please note Jason Allen-Paisant is no longer able to join this event due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict. We apologise for any disappointment this causes.
