Enjoy refreshments with the Ilkley Literature Festival team, receive an exclusive preview of 2026 festival highlights coming this autumn, and hear from our special guest Jan Carson, the award-winning Northern Irish novelist and author of The Raptures.
Hailed as one of the most exciting and original writers of her generation, Jan has won the EU Prize for Literature and been shortlisted for the Irish Book Awards Novel of the Year. Her writing has been praised by writers Marian Keyes, Sarah Moss, Donal Ryan & Louise Kennedy.
Jan will be discussing her new book, Few and Far Between, a stunning, imaginative novel about a community living on a small group of islands in Lough Neagh. In the novel, the residents of the islands face imminent eviction as the Lough is to be flooded to combat an environmental disaster. Forced back to the Mainland for the first time in fifty years, ageing siblings Robert-John and Marion Connolly are forced to confront both the modern world and their own secret histories.
Places at the reception are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To be sure of your place, please make sure you RSVP as soon as possible.
Please arrive from 6pm for the drinks reception, the talk begins at 6.30pm.
