109. Emma Conally-Barklem: Taking Flight

Writing Narrative Voice for Impact and Feeling

Explore writing in different narrative voices, register and form. Using extracts from Emma Conally-Barklem's own collections, the session will involve practical writing activities, prompts and opportunities to read back. We’ll also share tips and pitfalls of the writing process and writing for publication. You’ll also be able to ask questions and work with other writers during the session.
Conally-Barklem is an author, grief worker and yoga teacher based in Yorkshire. She performed on Radio 4 at the 2025 BBC Contains Strong Language festival and this year published The High Flight, her first full collection.
This event has a limited number of bursary tickets available for people who might not otherwise be able to afford them. You can apply here.
