90. Alys Cummings & Tom Hindle: The New Golden Age

Crime writers Alys Cummings and Tom Hindle both draw inspiration for their books from ‘The Golden Age’ of crime fiction – twentieth-century puzzle mysteries by the likes of Christie, Sayers and Marsh. They join forces in Ilkley to talk about their new books, their creative processes, and what it’s like to be working within a long and much-loved tradition within British fiction. Local Leeds lad Hindle’s Costa Rican-set A Killer in Paradise evokes glamorous locations, old rivalries and deeply hidden secrets. Murder Most Cryptic is north-east author Cummings' first novel in which the key to the killer unravels via crossword clues.

This event will be chaired by Naomi Frisby.

Naomi Frisby is a writer and Programme and Partnerships Manager for the education charity First Story. She runs the blog The Writes of Woman and co-hosts the podcast Late To It.
